Help build the catalogue of health databases of Latin America
Hospitals, public health systems, payers, registries, laboratories and digital health initiatives: we are mapping the region's health data sources to form a Latin American data partner network able to generate reliable evidence from real-world data.
A data network for health equity in the region
Inspired by initiatives such as DARWIN EU and the global OHDSI network, the OHDSI Latin America community is building a regional catalogue of health data sources. The catalogue describes each database — population, coverage, clinical content, terminologies, governance — without holding any patient data, and lets network studies find the right partners for each research question.
Joining the catalogue is the first, non-binding step for your institution to be invited to multicentre studies, receive support for conversion to the OMOP CDM and gain visibility in the Latin American and global scientific community.
- Visibility of your source to researchers and international networks, while keeping institutional control over access.
- Invitations to federated network studies: data stay at the institution; only aggregated results travel.
- Community support (training, open-source tools, mentoring) to standardise the database to the OMOP CDM.
- A voice in regional governance and in the network's research priorities.
General requirements considered
- Sources that routinely collect health data (care, billing, registries, laboratory, etc.).
- Continuous collection, with data updates at least once a year.
- Institutional governance over the source (the institution can decide on research use).
- Individual-level data, preferably with an identifier that allows longitudinal follow-up.
Not meeting every requirement? Fill it in anyway: the catalogue also records sources under development.
Three steps, no contractual commitment
Express interest and characterise the source
Answer the questionnaire below (about 30 minutes, in blocks; you can save and continue later). Someone who knows the database and the institutional governance is the ideal respondent.
Review by the coordination
The OHDSI Latin America coordination reviews the answers, schedules a conversation and identifies opportunities for collaboration, training and technical support for the OMOP CDM.
Entry into the catalogue and the network
The source joins the regional catalogue (with the level of visibility the institution chooses) and your institution is invited to the network's activities and studies.
What happens to the information you send
Metadata only
The questionnaire describes the data source and the institution. No patient data are collected or transferred at any stage.
Restricted use
Answers are stored in a secure OHDSI Latin America environment and used only to evaluate participation and communicate about the initiative, in line with the LGPD and equivalent legislation.
You stay in control
Submitting is an initial expression of interest with no contractual obligation. You may request an update or deletion of the information at any time via contact@ohdsilatam.org.
Preliminary questionnaire for potential data partners
Organised in thematic blocks with an estimated time per block. Answers are saved automatically in this browser; at the end you can receive a copy by e-mail to consult or re-import in the future.
