About

Who we are and why we exist

What OHDSI is, what we do in Latin America, our mission and how the community is organized — all on one page; the sub-navigation above jumps to each block.

What is OHDSI

A global, open and collaborative scientific community

OHDSI (Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics, pronounced “Odyssey”) is dedicated to generating reliable evidence from observational health data. Through the OMOP Common Data Model and an ecosystem of open-source tools (ATLAS, HADES, Achilles, WhiteRabbit…), the community promotes reproducible, transparent and interoperable studies, connecting institutions worldwide.

More than 4,700 collaborators across 88 countries, with standardized data from 550+ sources representing nearly one billion patient records. Global coordination is based at Columbia University's Department of Biomedical Informatics.
